If You Want Your Site to Be Found, Find A Designer Who Is Also a Website Promoter

By John Souter

Here are Seven Reasons why the best websites are created by designers who understand website promotion:

1. The Best Websites Are Written For A Specific Audience.

As an author I've met many first-time authors who wrote a book with no idea who will ever read it. That's a prescription for failure in book writing and in website building. The best websites are usually written specifically for a targeted audience. If your website designer doesn't know who your audience is, he will be unlikely to target the site for any specific group of people.

This principle might be deceptively simple. You don't want to target a website for too large group of people, say "for women." In this day of specialization, some of the most successful websites have narrow, small audiences. If you design a site like a shotgun blast, you risk hitting everything but your target.

2. Design Your Website So That It Meets Your Target Market's Needs.

A good website builder studies his audience carefully to make certain that he knows what they want most. Once you know what your audience wants most, you are ready to lay out a plan to meet their needs. Meeting your visitor's needs is the beginning of how to be an effective marketing promoter to them. The more you have to give to your audience, the more interested they will be in your website and your message.

This is one of the reasons why I like to give "free information" away on my websites. This information enhances my creditability because it shows my readers some of what I know. If your readers like your ideas and suggestions, they are much more likely to buy your products.

3. Before You Create A Website You Should Have A Good Idea How You Create Your Website Promotion.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that website promotion is a job performed after you have created a website. If you know how you are going to promote a website, BEFORE you create it, then you are more likely to design the site like a true marketing promoter. If you or your website designer doesn't have a clue about website promotion, you won't know what to do when he had finished it and walked away.

4. Determine Your Site Promotion Plan Before You Create Your Website.

Because I had to create my own website promotions for my own sites, I have thousands of dollars over the years purchasing or developing several programs and methods which have proven successful in getting my websites out on many different search terms on Google. One of my competitors commented to me recently that wherever they go searching on Google that they see my website links everywhere. Believe me, this didn't happen accidentally.

I have a definite marketing plan that I follow over and over. And I will use not only what I know but also new tricks just designed for your website to make certain that you can get found by the people who would be most interested in your website.

5. A Good Website Promoter Will Design His Website Around His Marketing Plan.

I've re-written my main website something like seven times. I've also created multiple websites to emphasize different aspects of my same business, all based upon my marketing plan. Sure it takes time and effort, but the results in business are worth it. If you want your website to be a success you must give a thought to how it fits into your overall marketing plan.

Most business professionals who have been around for any length of time know where their business is coming from. You keep doing what works and you eliminate what isn't working. That's a law of business success which most of us learn quickly. If you work with me, that's one of the things I will attempt to help you accomplish with your website.

6. A Website Which is Designed for Traffic Is Unlikely to Make Mistakes With Its Navigation Scheme.

Many web designers create javascript navigation buttons that are very fun but not very practical. The best web creators know that the best links your site will get are found right inside of your own website. This is why a savvy website promoter takes a lot of effort to create a site navigation system that will help Google and Yahoo find each of the pages and list it properly.

I took over a website design project from a javascript expert who didn't have a clue how web promotion worked. When I tried to explain it to him -- and even suggested where he could learn more about site optimization -- he threw up his hands in frustration and said, "I'm just not interested in that side of web design."

If you hire a web designer with his kind of thinking, you'll end up with a website that is "cute" but which nobody will be able to find in the search engines.

7. Your Web Designer Should Have A Plan For Developing Offsite Links.

Many web designers have realized by now that targeted links coming in from other websites tell Google and Yahoo what your site is all about. Such links add credibility to your site and inform the search engines of the terms that most describe your site. Believe me that the creation of these links seldom happens naturally. If you want links, you (or your web promoter) have to have a plan to create them.

Once I figured out how this worked, I started to create a system of programs and services which I could use to help me get the necessary off-site links that I needed to make my websites rank well in the search engines. If you don't have a website promoter who knows how to do this, you can count on having your website languish in the bowels of Google's index, so deep down that few will every find you.

Because I already have my own system of link services and tricks up my sleeve, I automatically include all of my new website creations for my clients so that they can have the necessary backlinks to rank high in Google and Yahoo.

What Are My Qualifications
For Promoting Your Website?

I have authored in excess of 20 websites over the years. And those websites have brought in well over $2,000,000 worth of business for my Hawaii wedding company. I am NOT a web designer who is first and foremost a technician  I am a business professional who looks at every website I create from a marketing point-of-view. Even if you just want a simple website to back up a brick-and-mortar business, I can help your website get found.

If you are looking for a free lance web designer who is also a website promoter, I may just be your man. Even if you just need website promotion, let's talk. Call me to talk about your website project, or drop an email using the button below .
